§04.09 · EU REGISTRY

Submitting a Passport to the EU Registry.

Prerequisites, step-by-step submission process, status flow, and bulk submission.

After activating a passport, the next step is submitting it to the EU DPP Registry. This registers the passport with the European Commission and makes it verifiable by customs authorities.

Prerequisites

Before you can submit to the registry, three conditions must be met:

  1. The passport must be Active. Draft passports cannot be submitted.
  2. Your EU Operator ID must be configured. Go to Settings → EU Registry Operator ID. If the field is empty, you need to register with the Commission first (see Getting your EU Operator ID).
  3. All registry-required fields must be complete. The registry requires a minimum dataset beyond the activation requirements. EU Digital Passport Processor checks this before submission.

How to submit

  1. Open the passport detail pageNavigate to the Active passport you want to submit.
  1. Click Submit to EU RegistryThe button appears in the EU Registry section of the passport detail page. It is only visible on Active passports with a configured Operator ID.
  1. Confirm submissionA dialog confirms you are submitting to the EU registry (or mock registry, depending on the date). Click Submit.
  1. Monitor the statusThe passport status changes to Queued, then Submitted, then Registered. This typically completes within minutes.

The status sequence

After clicking Submit, the passport moves through these states:

Queued → EU Digital Passport Processor has received your request and is preparing the submission. Seconds.

Submitted → The data has been sent to the registry API. Waiting for validation. Minutes.

Registered → The registry has accepted the passport. You are compliant for this battery. This is the target state.

If the registry rejects the submission, the status changes to Rejected with a reason code. See EU registry submission errors for troubleshooting.

Mock mode resubmissionBefore July 2026, submissions go to the Commission's test endpoint. You can submit, review, and resubmit freely in mock mode to test your data. When the registry goes live, EU Digital Passport Processor will automatically resubmit mock passports to the production registry.

Bulk submission

If you have multiple Active passports ready for submission, you can submit them in bulk from the Passports list. Select the passports using the checkboxes and click "Submit Selected to Registry." Each passport goes through the same Queued → Submitted → Registered flow independently.
