What is an Operator ID?
An EU Registry Operator ID is a unique identifier issued by the European Commission when an economic operator registers to use the EU DPP Registry. It acts as your authorising credential — EU Digital Passport Processor submits passports to the registry on your behalf using this ID.
Who needs one?
Every economic operator that places batteries on the EU market under the Battery Regulation:
- Battery manufacturers (EU and non-EU)
- EU importers
- Authorised Representatives
- Distributors who create passports
When can I register?
The EU DPP Registry is expected to launch in July 2026. The operator registration process opens at the same time. We will update this article with the direct link to the Commission registration portal when it becomes available.
How to add your Operator ID to EU Digital Passport Processor
- Go to SettingsOpen your EU Digital Passport Processor dashboard and click Settings in the left sidebar.
- Find EU Registry Operator IDScroll to the EU Registry section. If no ID has been added, you will see an amber notice prompting you to add one.
- Enter and saveClick Add Operator ID, enter your ID (format: EU-OP-YYYY-XXXXXX), and click Save. Your ID is used immediately for all future registry submissions.
Authorised Representatives
As an AR, one Operator ID covers all manufacturer clients you represent. You do not need a separate ID per client. EU Digital Passport Processor's AR account type is designed for this — manage passports for multiple manufacturers under a single account and a single Operator ID.
