EU Digital Passport Processor™ Backup

Mandatory backup hosting.
Certification in progress.

Under the ESPR DPP Service Provider framework, every operator must maintain a certified backup of their passport data with an independent provider. EU Digital Passport Processor™ Backup satisfies this obligation.

Certification status: EU Digital Passport Processor™ Backup is operated by a provider on the ESPR DPP Service Provider certification pathway. Mandatory backup certification is expected from approximately 2028 when the certification framework is adopted. Operators who establish backup hosting now build a continuous record from day one of passport operations.

Two ways to use EU Digital Passport Processor™ Backup

🏭

Existing EU Digital Passport Processor™ operators

Your passport data is already in Supabase. Backup hosting is a contractual guarantee that a separate encrypted copy of your data is held independently of the primary instance.

  • Daily encrypted database snapshot
  • 10-year retention (battery lifetime)
  • On-demand data export in JSON
  • Proof of backup obligation compliance
  • Last backup timestamp in your dashboard

Self-hosting operators

Running your own DPP infrastructure? Push your passport data to EU Digital Passport Processor™ via REST API. Your primary system is unchanged — EU Digital Passport Processor™ stores a certified-pathway backup copy of what you push.

  • Push via POST /api/v1/backup/passports
  • API key authentication
  • Single passport or batch push
  • Dashboard shows count + last received
  • Same pricing as existing operators

How the backup works

1

Daily encrypted snapshot

Every day at 03:00 UTC, a complete encrypted snapshot of your passport data (and all linked records: supply chain actors, documents, carbon footprint declarations) is exported to Dropbox. The snapshot is encrypted at rest. Retention is 10 years — the expected lifetime of an EV or industrial battery.

2

Backup timestamp in your dashboard

Your dashboard shows the exact time of the last successful backup. If a backup fails, the timestamp will not update — giving you immediate visibility. You will not be billed for a period in which backup was not performed.

3

On-demand export

Request a data export at any time from your Backup dashboard. The export is generated in JSON (full Annex XIII structure) and delivered to you by email as a download link. The link expires after 7 days. There is no limit on the number of exports you can request.

4

Restore procedure

If you need to restore data — whether due to accidental deletion, system migration, or a regulatory audit — contact support@eudigitalpassportprocessor.com. We will initiate the restore procedure. Restore SLA is documented in the Backup Hosting agreement provided at activation.

The regulation will require a certified backup provider by approximately 2028. Operators who start now avoid a last-minute migration.
